All in one Audio / Video Device Testing

The UC Test Lab performs reviews, assessments and comparison evaluations on all-in-one Audio / Video devices, including those designed to be installed at the front of a room, above or below the display and those designed to sit in middle of a conference room table. Read on for more details about this type of device testing.

All-in-one devices are those that have microphones, speakers and a camera all contained within a single unit. They may or may not have an embedded operating system for use with a specific meeting service. We test these device from deployment to management to end user workflows and also perform individual component tests for camera, speaker and microphone quality.

First, we install the device per the vendor’s specific recommendation noting time from unboxing to first use and any issues with the install process. If the device has an embedded OS using a specific meeting service we will acquire any necessary licenses for testing. We include an assessment of the account creation and authentication processes in our review. Next we perform administrative workflows on the device, documenting firmware updates, control applications (local or cloud-based) and all feature settings.

The device is then taken through rigorous end user workflows, which vary depending on the device. These tests are all about the end user experience primarily from an ease of use perspective. We also assess the device from the remote participant’s perspective and if they have a quality experience.

Each individual component of the device is also tested for quality. We perform our routine microphone, speaker and imaging tests on all devices brought into the lab along with any specific features available on any individual device.
